Cuong Dang is a Senior Research Associate at Brown University's School of Engineering, Providence, RI, USA. He is also a manager of the Nano-Photonics laboratory in Professor Nurmikko's group and a scholar of Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF). He received his Ph.D. in Physics and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
Dr. Dang’s research has been on magnetic materials, semiconductors, ultrafast opto-acoustics, photo detectors, photovoltaics, and light emitting devices. His research on employing semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots in light emitting devices was successful with three vastly different devices from single-photon emitter arrays, white light-emitting diodes to full-color single-material lasers. He demonstrated the first colloidal quantum dots vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (CQD-VCSEL). His works have been published and featured in many science and technology journals, websites, such as Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Photonics, Advanced Materials, Optics ExpressPhotonics Spectra, SPIE News Room, MRS, LaserFocusWorld, Physics World, Optics and Photonics News. He is also the co-inventor of two pending patents.
Dr. Dang is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Photonics Society, and the Optical Society of America (OSA).
